This guide explains how to use breadcrumbs in the Astra theme for WordPress. We’ll discuss what breadcrumbs are, why they are useful, and provide step-by-step instructions to help you enable and customize breadcrumbs on your site.
What Are Breadcrumbs?
Breadcrumbs are a type of secondary navigation that helps website visitors to understand their location within your website. They show the path from the homepage to the current page, making it easier for visitors to navigate your site.
Why Should I Use Breadcrumbs?
Breadcrumbs improve user experience by providing a clear navigation path. They help visitors backtrack through your site easily, reduce bounce rates, and can even enhance SEO by helping search engines understand your site’s structure.
How to Customize Breadcrumbs in Astra?
Use the General tab to enable your breadcrumbs by choosing the Header Position (where should breadcrumbs be positioned in your header) or disable them by choosing “None”. In addition, you can disable breadcrumbs on specific pages by activating appropriate options from the list.
Also here, you can use a Predefined Separator which will be used between the categories and the Alignment.
You can see the display settings here, such as where to enable breadcrumbs: on the homepage, blog/post page, archive, and single pages. You can enable the toggle for each as per your requirement.
Styling options for breadcrumbs are located in the “Design” tab. Here, you can customize the appearance of your breadcrumbs to match your website’s theme. Adjust the font, color, and spacing to create a seamless and visually appealing navigation experience for your users.
