When we launched the Astra WordPress theme nearly 6 years ago, we introduced unlimited websites and bundles.

Unlimited websites license brought complete peace of mind and reduced decision paralysis for buyers. This was especially true for agencies and website developers who make websites for clients.

Bundles offered all the tools you needed in a single purchase. It was simple, cost-effective and easy to manage for all concerned.

This model was a huge success.

Over the past few years, we’ve all felt the impact of inflation. However, amidst this, we haven’t made major price changes or revisions.

Additionally, in the fast-paced world of technology, where six years is a significant amount of time, our product bundles needed updates to stay relevant and provide maximum value.

Astra has also grown in popularity with solopreneurs and DIY website builders. So much so that we were frequently being asked if we could offer a single website or 10 website plans.

Considering all these things, we decided it was time to modernize pricing and packages to make them more relevant to our extensive family of diverse users.

We had three keywords in mind when planning the change: flexibility, affordability, and relevance.

Our valued existing subscribers, The new plans do not affect existing customers. The new pricing and plans only impact new purchases. Your journey with Astra Pro, Essential Bundle, and Growth Bundle stays seamless, and no action is required on your part.

1. We Have Introduced 1 Site, 10 Site and 1000 Site Licenses

This change will bring the much needed flexibility that our customers often ask for.

You can select the number of sites you want to use Astra on the purchase screen so you can tailor it to your exact needs.

There’s no need to pay for licenses you don’t need and more flexibility than ever before to make Astra fit your specific requirements.

2. We No Longer Offer Unlimited Site Licenses

Unlimited licenses worked both for us and against us. It offered a lot of flexibility to some agency customers, which we liked. But some users were reselling their licenses, which we didn’t like so much.

Policing licenses is a challenge and not something we wanted to get into. That’s why we decided to replace unlimited licenses with multiple license options.

The ability to choose 1, 10 or 1000 site licenses means every type of user can select the option that’s right for them.

Agencies and professionals still get the same peace of mind as before with no decision making dilemma. Individual users and DIY website builders also get a great deal at a competitive price.

Analysis of our hundreds of thousands of customers over the past 6 years, show only 6 have ever used more than 1000 licenses. Only 3% of those have ever used more than 200.

That means 97% of Astra users have never activated more than 200 sites.

While it may seem like a big change, the actual number of customers it will impact is very minimal.

3. Reimagining Bundles for Maximum Relevance

When we introduced our Business Toolkit in 2017, it included just 4 products:

Over time, we added more and more products, including:

• Hundreds of people take courses on SkillJet Academy to learn strategies they can implement while building their business. It has courses like How to Build Recurring Revenue by Chris Lema, SEO Foundations by Dave Swift or Advanced Marketing & Funnel Strategies by Spencer Forman. These are exclusive premium courses but Astra customers can access them completely free with qualifying purchases.
• Spectra Pro, which was released only recently. It’s a lightweight page builder based on the WordPress block editor. It is currently used by over 600,000 people and is rapidly growing in popularity.

As you can imagine, some of the products in the bundle may not feel relevant to everyone.

For example, not everyone uses Beaver Builder. It’s not as popular now as it was when we developed Ultimate Addons for Beaver Builder.

• When we released Schema Pro, there was only 1 SEO plugin, Yoast. It didn’t offer any schema features at the time, so we filled a niche. Now there are few SEO plugin options such as Rank Math, AIOSEO, Yoast and SEOPress to name a few.

All offer schema features that would fit the basic needs of many users. Schema Pro is still great for advanced implementation, but not everyone needs it as most SEO plugins offer at least some basic schema features.

• WP Portfolio did not get the traction we thought it would. People prefer showing a portfolio with images using page builder blocks.
• When Convert Pro launched, there were no page builders that offered popup functionality. Now most do. We even have popup building features in Spectra Pro (Which we will keep developing).

As we felt these products were not offering the value they once did in the bundles, we decided to not include them anymore.
