How to Update Astra Theme Manually?

You get an update notification in the WordPress backend under the Dashboard > Updates tab. From this page, you can update Astra with one click. WordPress checks for updates every 48 hours. If you have not received the notification to update or if you are facing any other issues updating the theme or plugin directly from the dashboard, you can update them manually.

Since all settings are stored in the database, updating the theme or a plugin does not affect the settings. Still, we always recommend backup. It only takes less than 10 minutes.

Updating the theme or plugin manually requires the latest zip file of the theme and the plugin. You can get these files from the Brainstorm Force Store. Here is how it can be done:

Update the Astra theme manually

Please follow the steps below to update the Astra theme manually on your website.

Step 1: Download the zip file of the Astra theme here. You can also download it from the Brainstorm Force Store by logging in with your registered email address. The downloaded theme file will have the name similar to: astra.4.11.13.zip. This will also help avoid any confusion in the theme and plugin files.

Step 2: Once you have the zip file of the Astra theme ready, navigate to WordPress Dashboard >> Appearance >> Themes >> Add New.

Step 3: Next, upload the downloaded theme file and click the Install Now button. The theme will be installed, and you may be asked to replace the files. Simply click on Replace Installed with Uploaded to finish the installation.

Step 4: After successful installation, it is updated manually, and you can verify the latest version from the dashboard. Let’s see the process to update the Astra Pro Addon plugin manually.

Update the Astra Pro Addon plugin manually

Updating the Astra Pro Addon plugin manually is similar to installing the plugin for the first time. Since this is a premium Addon plugin, it requires a valid Astra Pro subscription or a higher plan to download the Astra Pro zip file. You may follow the steps below:

Step 1: Use your subscription email address to log in to the Brainstorm Force Store here.

Step 2: In the Store Dashboard, click on the Astra Pro download button to download the Astra Pro Addon plugin zip file.

Step 3: After clicking the button, you will get a prompt to select the Astra theme or the Astra Pro Addon plugin. Click on the download button in front of the Astra Pro Addon Plugin to get the latest zip file. The file name will be similar to: astra-addon-plugin-4.11.10.zip.

Step 4: Upload the downloaded plugin file to WordPress Dashboard >> Plugins >> Add New >> Upload Plugin.

Step 5: After the upload completes, the plugin will be installed, and you can proceed with confirmation by clicking Replace current with Uploaded. This confirmation does not appear when you are installing the Astra Pro plugin for the first time on the website.
