Astra Pro 4.12.0 – Blog Pro: What’s New & How to Use It

Astra Pro 4.12.0 brings powerful new design controls for Blog Pro, helping you create more flexible, modern, and visually consistent blog layouts especially for Cover Layout.

All new options are available from the WordPress Customizer, so you can see changes instantly while editing.

Where to Find These Options

1. Go to Appearance → Customize
2. Open Blog / Archive
3. Switch to the Design tab

Depending on the blog layout you choose (Grid, List, or Cover), different options will appear.

1. Blog Card Content Alignment

This option controls how the content inside each blog card (title, meta, excerpt, etc.) is aligned.

For Grid & List Layouts

✔ Horizontal alignment only

You can align content:

• Left
• Center
• Right
• Default (None)

Best used when you want:

• Centered text for modern grid designs
• Left-aligned text for classic blog layouts

For Cover Layout

✔ Both Horizontal & Vertical alignment

In addition to horizontal alignment, you can also control vertical placement of content:

• Top – Content stays at the top of the card
• Middle – Content is vertically centered
• Bottom – Content sticks to the bottom

Why this is useful:

• Perfect for overlay designs on images
• Helps balance text when cards have fixed heights
• Great for magazine-style layouts

📌 Tip: Vertical alignment works best when you set a fixed card height.

2. Blog Category Alignment

This feature lets you control where category labels appear on your blog cards.

Horizontal Position

• Left
• Center
• Right

Vertical Position

• Top
• Middle
• Bottom

Common design ideas:

• Top-left for classic badges
• Center-center for bold overlay effects
• Bottom-right for subtle category labels

Categories automatically adjust for RTL (right-to-left) languages.

⚠️ Note: Category alignment changes require a page refresh to preview.

3. Cover Layout – New Design Options

Cover Layout gets the most powerful design upgrades in this release.

Card Height

Set a fixed height for blog cards.

Why use it:

• Create equal-height cards
• Maintain a clean grid layout
• Improve alignment when using vertical centering

Content Color

Change the text color for:

• Post title
• Meta
• Excerpt

Perfect for ensuring readability over images.

Background Color (Without Featured Image)

Applies only when a post does not have a featured image.

Useful when:

• Some posts are missing images
• You want consistent card styling

Text Background (Overlay Background)

Adds a background behind the text area only.

Best for:

• Improving text readability on images
• Creating elegant overlay designs
• Using semi-transparent colors for a modern look

Text Border Radius

Round the corners of the text background.

Supports:

• Desktop, tablet & mobile values
• Individual corner control

Great for matching your site’s overall design style.

4. Related Posts – Better Visual Consistency

A new option lets Related Posts automatically match your blog card alignment.

When enabled:

• Related posts follow the same content alignment as your blog archive
• Creates a consistent look across your site

This works seamlessly with both horizontal and vertical alignment (where supported).

Best Design Tips

• Use vertical alignment + fixed card height for professional cover layouts
• Apply semi-transparent text backgrounds for better readability
• Keep category badges visible when placing them over images
• Always test on tablet and mobile views in the customizer

Final Notes

• Most options show live preview instantly
• Category alignment requires a refresh
• Options appear only when the relevant layout is selected
