How to Add New Languages to Astra Language Switcher

By default, Astra’s Language Switcher does not include all possible languages. For example, Swahili is not available out of the box. To make it easier for users to add unsupported languages, we’ve introduced a filter — astra_language_switcher_additional_languages — that allows you to register any custom language (like Swahili, Sanskrit, etc.).

Add Custom Languages via Filter

You can add the following code to your child theme’s functions.php file or through a custom code plugin (such as Code Snippets).

How to Add This Code to Your Site (refer here)

Once you’ve added this customization, visit your website’s header or footer area where the Language Switcher is placed. You’ll notice that the newly added languages — Swahili and Sanskrit — now appear in the language dropdown along with their respective flag icons.

Note: This feature is applicable from Astra Addon v4.11.12 and above.
