Secondary Buttons

Before Astra 4.4.0, one set of button settings controlled both your filled (primary) buttons and your outline (secondary) buttons.

From Astra 4.4.0 onwards, you can style outline buttons separately using the new Secondary tab.

In this guide, you’ll learn what each tab controls and how to create and style an outline button.

Dedicated Styling for Secondary (Outline) Buttons

Go to Appearance > Customize > Global > Buttons. You’ll see two tabs: Primary and Secondary.

Primary tab: Styles all buttons on your site by default, including outline buttons, until you customize the Secondary tab.

Secondary tab: Styles only outline buttons. Any changes here override the Primary tab settings for outline buttons.

How to Create an Outline Button

Before you start: Make sure the Astra theme and the Astra Pro Addon are installed and activated, and your Astra Pro license is active.

Then only you can unlock a range of functionalities that can improve your secondary button styling.

Now, let’s walk through the simple process of creating an outline button.

1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
2. Open the page or post where you want the button (or create a new one).
3. Click the + icon and add a Buttons block.
4. Select the button, then open the Block settings in the right sidebar.
5. Under Styles, choose Outline.
6. Click Update or Publish to save your changes.

How to Create an Outline Button

Go to Appearance > Customize > Global > Buttons and click the Secondary tab.
